Panic among returnees from Covid-hit nations
Hyderabad: There is a state of panic among people, especially those who are travelling to Covid-19 affected countries. On their return, most people are ‘self-reporting’ to government hospitals, stated health officials.
With 24 countries affected, health officials stated that they have people who are coming in with persistent cough and cold, because of which suspected cases are being reported. With two of them reporting to Gandhi Hospital on February 19, the officials stated that people who are travelling to the ‘affected countries’ are filling questionnaires on planes.
A senior health official, on condition of anonymity, explained, “Those who are developing symptoms later too are reporting in, as they are scared. People are aware and those who have travelled to those sectors are directly coming in. The rule of quarantine is being followed for them. We are also checking temperatures regularly but there has not been any alarming situation so far.”
