Shredded demonitised notes found in Salem

On information, the Aathur police rushed to the spot and inspected the shredded currencies.

Salem: In a surprise find, shredded demonetized high-value currencies were found at a Cooperative bank branch premises in Aathur near Salem, forcing the local police to mount a search for members of an alleged gang who are said to have dumped it there.

Police said the local residents of Aathur were stunned to found such huge quantity of shredded demonetized currencies in denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1000, which were found dumped in front of the bank branch on Kamarajar road. As the word spread, many people from surrounding areas gathered at the spot on Saturday to take a look at them.

On information, the Aathur police rushed to the spot and inspected the shredded currencies. Police official said that the several lakh rupees worth of demonetized currencies were shredded somewhere and dumped at the spot during the night. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
