Karnataka Governor should resign, says Pondicherry CM
Puducherry: Puducherry Chief Minister and senior Congress leader V Narayanasamy on Sunday said the Governor of Karnataka, Vijubhai Vala, should resign from the post and tender an apology for violating all statutory provisions by inviting B.S. Yedyurappa to form the government.
The game plan of BJP - Operation Lotus - which they successfully applied in states including Meghalaya, Goa and Manipur, failed in the face of the unity of MLAs belonging to Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) in Karanataka, said Mr Narayanasamy while talking to reporters here.
“BJP was dreaming of purchasing legislators through money power and authority to prove majority on the floor of the House which was smashed by Congress and JDS legislators. BJP should learn lessons from the Karnataka experiment and “refrain” “, said the Congress leader.
Appealing to the Centre to stop using governors and Lt Governors for their whims and fancies to trouble the states, the Chief Minister said the Karnataka governor should resign and tender an apology to the people.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi who portrays himself as the champion of democracy and Constitution remained a mute spectator and supported the leadership of BJP in Karnataka,” Mr Narayanasamy said.
Yeddyurappa, who was sworn in as the chief minister on Thursday, quit from the post on Saturday just before a trust vote after failing to secure enough numbers to form the government.
