KCR calls for stricter lockdown in state

Addresses district collectors, SPs through video conferencing from Warangal

WARANGAL: Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao has directed collectors and superintendents of police (SPs) of all the districts to enforce the lockdown much more strictly as the cases are now seeing a downfall after imposing the lockdown in the state. The Chief Minister was speaking over a video conference from the Warangal collectorate on Friday during his visit to the city.

The Chief Minister expressed displeasure over non-serious enforcement of lockdown in a few districts. He directed the collectors and SPs to ensure that no one came onto the roads unless there was an emergency. He also directed them to impose restrictions on crowding of people during the relaxation period of 6 am to 10 am.

On the occasion, he said despite losing thousands of crores of rupees in revenue, the state government was implementing the lockdown till the 30th of this month for protecting the health of people.

Noting that the number of positive cases has been declining due to the lockdown implemented over the last 11 days, the Chief Minister asked the police officials to make the lockdown much stricter and the district collectors were suggested to review the implementation from time to time. He said that the first phase of the door-to-door health survey had given good results and asked officials to conduct the second phase from Saturday.

Chandrashekar Rao said oxygen cylinders, remdesivir injections and other medicines were available in all government hospitals in excess of the requirement. “The state government had fought with the Centre to procure oxygen cylinders and remdesivir injections. Ensure the Covid wards in the respective districts are sanitised and cleaned daily and more staff may be hired for sanitation work if necessary,” he stated.

He also suggested the speedy purchase of paddy as the rains have begun in the state.

Panchayat raj and rural development minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Chief Secretary to the government Somesh Kumar, district collectors, SPs and district medical health officers took part in the meeting among others.
