CM determined to make Vizag as AP capital: Health Minister

VISAKHAPATNAM: Health minister Vidadala Rajini has said Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is determined to make Visakhapatnam the administrative capital of Andhra Pradesh.

The district’s in-charge minister held a review of the developmental activities of Gajuwaka and Visakhapatnam North constituencies with the elected representatives and officials at the collectorate here on Thursday. Regional coordinator Y.V. Subba Reddy was also present.

The minister later told the media that the CM was mainly focusing on development and welfare and might very soon shift state administration to Visakhapatnam.

“The Chief Minister has been focusing on Visakhapatnam. Hence the developmental activities of these two constituencies were extensively discussed in today’s meeting. Issues related to revenue, GVMC, Nadu Nedu, Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam etc came up for review.

She said similar reviews would be held in all the assembly constituencies as desired by the CM. On Jagananna Suraksha, she said 11 types of services were being reached to the doorsteps of the people under this programme. The response of the people to the development programmes has been overwhelming, as was evident during the Gadapa Gadapaku programme, she said.

On the rendering of health services to the poor, the minister said another five medical colleges were being developed in the state, which would be of global standards. This was in addition to the existing 11 medical colleges.

“The students need not go to other states or abroad to pursue medical education. Medical colleges are provided in every district to give better health care to the people,’’ she said.

Regional coordinator Subba Reddy said detailed discussions were held with the collector, GVMC commissioner, joint collector and other officials on the developmental activities of Gajuwaka and Visakhapatnam North constituencies.

Mayor Hari Venkata Kumari, Nedcap chairman K.K. Raju and YSRC corporators were present at the meeting.
