Hyderabad: Illegal buildings to face the bulldozer
Hyderabad: Red notices will be issued to all illegal constructions that have come up after October 28, 2015, the cut-off date for the building regularisation scheme.
The GHMC, with the help of the National Remote Sensing Agency, will compare satellite imaginary to identify illegal constructions that have come up after the cut off date. These will be knocked down and applications for building regularisation rejected.
The state government in 2015 had passed a government order to regularise all illegally built buildings in Greater Hyderabad limits and illegal layouts in HMDA area, the cut off date put at October 28, 2015 .
The municipal body had received 60,000 applications for buildings and over 20,000 for land regularisation. Over 14,000 applications received during the 2007-8 scheme are still unapproved by the HMDA.
GHMC commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy said, “Two sets of satellite imageries, for October 2015 and March 2016, will be procured and all constructions that have come up during this time will be listed by comparing the images. If BRS applications have been filed for these constructions they will be rejected and action will be taken as per rules.”
Circle assistant town planning officials have been directed by the commissioner to take immediate action against unauthorised constructions as per provisions.
The government expects to earn Rs 1,000 crore from the BRS and LRS schemes. “Unapproved layouts or plots and unauthorised buildings will be treated as an offence and penalty as per law will be levied,” the commissioner said. He said regular water supply connections and services like drainage and sewerage would not be extended.
“The unapproved layouts will be recorded in the Prohibitory Register of the registration department and no transaction will be allowed on the property. No building approvals will be considered by the building sanctioning authority,” Dr Janardhan Reddy said.
“Other actions, including demolition of the illegal building will be initiated,” he added.
