CM Oommen Chandy on Facebook chat, promises plenty of jobs
Kochi: More than 12,000 people from across the world joined Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Monday when he went 'live' on Facebook for 30 minutes asking questions on topics varying from the development agenda of the UDF to the several controversies that dogged the government.
In his first live Facebook interaction which began at 9 pm, Mr Chandy reiterated that the Kannur airport will be commissioned on November 1, 2016, and the commercial operations will begin immediately thereafter.
“The next term of the UDF will ensure that developmental activities would be carried out in such a way that no Keralite will have to seek a job outside Kerala," the chief minister said in answer to online questions.
Asked why the government decided to bar the Vigilance department from divulging details on vigilance cases, Mr Chandy said the decision followed complaints that many people were misusing RTI provisions, thus harassing the department.
Mr Chandy clarified that the LDF government had taken the initiative. He said the government followed the provisions in the law while dealing with the controversies involving Karuna Plantations and Metran Kayal.
Answering a query on Abdul Nasar Madani, the chief minister said he will never encourage the practice of police detaining a person without trial, and said he will intervene the issue.
