Tamil Nadu: Dalit youth requests police to rescue his lover from her parents

Pudukottai: Fearing for the safety of his lady love hailing from a Backward Class family, a Dalit youth on Tuesday sought the intervention of the Superintendent of Police here to 'rescue' her from her parents, who had reportedly detained and brutally assaulted her.

In his petition to the SP T M Vinoth said the girl had sent an SMS to him, saying that her parents had detained and brutally assaulted her, leaving her with injuries on her head, hand and legs. He requested the SP to rescue his lover, police said. Their ages were not mentioned.

Vinoth also feared that the parents could kill her anytime for the sake of honour of the family. The girl should be rescued and allowed to live with him, he said.

Vinoth said he could not enter the village of the girl in Alangudi in this district as it was dominated by Backward Class people.
