University of Hyderabad ranked best varsity globally
Hyderabad: University of Hyderabad is among the “best universities” in the world to pursue courses in English, Chemistry and Physics. As per the 2016 subject-wise QS World University Rankings, in which 42 subjects are listed, the English department at UoH finds itself in a list of the world’s top 200-250 English departments.
UoH scored 56.2 out of 100 points on various parameters. The Chemistry department is among the top 300-350 and scored 58.8 on a scale of 100. The university’s Physics department scored 56.3 and debuted in the rankings this year.
It was ranked among the top 300-350 in the world. In English, only UoH finds a place in the ranking from India. In Chemistry, Banaras Hindu University and University of Delhi are the two other universities that have been featured in the rankings.
The Department of Communication of UoH is ranked fifth, Political Science fourth, Sociology fifth and Performing Arts second best in the country, among all Indian universities.
To compile these rankings, QS evaluated 4,226 universities, qualified 2,691 and ranked 945 institutions in total. In-charge vice chancellor Prof. M Periasamy said, “I am happy three of our departments have got good score. The university would take measure to improve on their scores and other departments too.”
