Manjunath panel's public hearing today

Heavy bandobust arranged across East Godavari district.

KAKINADA: The district administration and the police department are all geared up to organise the public hearing on inclusion of Kapus in the BC reservation list on Wednesday. The Manjunath Commission, which has been entrusted with the study of socio-economic conditions of various castes in the East Godavari district, will record the opinions of the Kapus and BCs would be recorded with regard to the same and also upgrading of some castes in the reservation list.

Justice Manjunath, the chief of the Commission, has arrived in Kakinada on Tuesday evening. The public hearing would be held at Rangaraya Medical College auditorium which can accommodate nearly 350 persons. The police officials have made bandobust arrangements for the visit of Justice Manjuanth. Five drone cameras, body cameras, number of CC cameras, video cameras have been arranged to record the meeting. More than 1,500 police personnel have been deployed in the district. The police made it clear that only 350 persons, 175 each from Kapus and BCs, would be allowed into the meeting hall.

All the remaining people will have to wait outside the hall, where tents have been arranged. The police officials organised meetings with the Kapus and BC leaders and explained them how should they behave before the commission. The police officials said that cell phones or other electronic gadgets would not be allowed into the hall. Those taking part in the meeting can voice their opinion or argument why the particular community is eligible for reservations or not. After voicing the argument, the particular person should come out of the hall. Then another person from outside would be allowed into the hall.

Only those who submitted affidavits will be allowed into the hall. The BC leaders, it is learnt, have been informing each other about these instructions through social media like WhatsApp and voice messages. Meanwhile, SP M.Ravi Prakash has instructed the people not to take out processions, use mikes or drums and also not to move in groups as Section 30 of Police Act is in force in the district.
