CS urges MEA to support TS govt's overseas recruitment agency
Hyderabad: Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari asked officials of the external affairs ministry to support the programmes taken up by TOMCOM (Telangana Overseas Manpower Company), the registered overseas recruitment agency of the state government.
During a meeting at BRKR Bhavan on Friday, Santhi Kumari said TOMCOM was a pioneer organisation bridging the gap between job aspirants and employers abroad. She urged MEA officials to involve TASK (Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge) and TOMCOM in taking up skilling programmes on a larger scale.
She thanked the MEA for conducting the Pre Departure Orientation Training (PDOT) programme for those going abroad for work. She sought the cooperation of the MEA to recommend to the Union ministry of skill development to set up India International Skill Centre in Hyderabad in partnership with TOMCOM.
Ausaf Sayeed, secretary, Overseas India Affairs, assured the state government of support to TOMCOM. He said the MEA had mapped job opportunities in various countries and would support Telangana to take up job relevant programmes.
TOMCOM CEO Vishnuvardhan Reddy explained the activities of TOMCOM and said it was involved in mobilisation and enrolment of eligible candidates for overseas job opportunities, maintaining a database of skilled workers and partnering with training institutions.
DGP Anjani Kumar, special chief secretary, labour, Rani Kumudini, principal secretary, industries department, Jayesh Ranjan, attended the meeting.
