Hyderabad wakes up to humid weather on Monday as thunderstorms lash city

HYDERABAD: The early morning rains accompanied by thunderstorms lashed the city on Monday as the city woke up to cooler and humid weather.

Many places experienced moderate rains and thundershowers with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph in the GHMC limits.

The weather systems passing through north Telangana will continue to bring more rains in the coming four to five days.

As of Monday, the state recorded a highest rainfall of 88.3 mm in Rangareddy which was a heavy rainfall, followed by Jagtial at 55 mm and Karimnagar at 54.3 mm – both places received moderate rainfall.

The city recorded moderate rainfall with the highest rainfall of 52.3 mm in Rajendranagar, followed by Amberpet at 46.3 mm and Serilingampally at 44.5 mm.

Many places in the city also experienced power cut from early morning in areas such as Bowenpally, Nacharam, Saidabad, Kirshna Nagar, Tank Bund, Suncity, Bandlaguda Jagir, Tolichowki, Kompally, Mallapur, Moosarambagh, Beeramguda, Mothi Nagar, old city, Asif Nagar, Mehdipatnam, Erragadda, Katedan, Koti, Abids, and other places.

On the other hand, the temperatures continued to remain on the higher side as the city was at the highest maximum temperature of 42.4 degree at Chandanagar as of Monday morning.

Statewide, the highest maximum temperature was 45.1 degree in Karimnagar, followed by Peddapalli and Nirmal at 44.9 and Adilabad at 44.8 degree.

As per the IMD, more rains with thunderstorms are expected towards evening or late night in the city and the state. The pre-monsoon activity will continue for the week, although IMD had earlier predicted a delayed monsoon in the state, most likely between June 4 - June 8.
