Trained students to get additional points during admission: V Narayanasamy
Pondicherry: Yoga was part of the country’s great contributions to the world’s thinking and processes of enhancement, said Union minister of state for external affairs M.J. Akbar.
Three years before, when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi took up the cause of yoga, there were objections from several corners. But now it has become a movement deep-rooted in our philosophical tradition, thanks to the efforts of the Prime Minister, said Mr Akbar while addressing the mass yoga demonstration organised at the Gandhi Thidal on beach road here as part of the third International Yoga Day celebration along with Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy.
Speaking on the occasion CM said that the government will do everything possible to promote yoga and added that students with yoga training will be given additional points in admission to the educational courses.
At the same time Lt Governor Kiran Bedi conducted a separate yoga session at Raj Nivas on the third consecutive day as part of yoga day celebrations. This new initiative of yoga practice will now continue through the year every Sunday and will be open to the public who can assemble on the lawn at 5.45 am.
