Construction Worker Undergoes Second Surgery After Hyderabad Flyover Ramp Collapse

Hyderabad: A construction worker who suffered critical head injuries when the flyover ramp collapsed at Bairamalguda underwent a second surgery at KIMS Hospital Secunderabad on Thursday.

A worker, Rohit Kumar, 24, had undergone surgery to his head on Wednesday. Doctors performed a cervical (neck) surgery on Thursday. A hospital statement said it had gone off well.

Kamal Prasad, who was injured while rescuing his colleagues, was discharged on Wednesday, along with Ravi Kumar.

The condition of five other persons — Punit, Shankar Lal, Jathedar, Ratnesh Kumar and Hare Ram Kumar — was stated to be stable. The government has taken charge of their treatment, hospital sources said.

A special team led by LB Nagar inspector Anji Reddy and sub-inspector Shankar Naik, which is probing the case, said, “It’s a technical issue. GHMC officials and other authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse and they will submit a report. Based on that report, we will investigate further.”

Police have booked a case of negligence endangering human life against Bollineni Srinidhi Constructions Private Limited (BSCPL), which was building the flyover.
