Illegally parked 4-wheelers slow down traffic in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Parking four-wheelers on the roadsides is inconveniencing road-users.
Traffic police issues Rs 100 e-challans to illegally parked vehicles but that is not enough.
Mr Prateek Talukdar, a student from Begumpet who goes to his college through Gachibowli, said, “It is very frustrating as cars parked on roads slow down traffic.”
The situation is worse when vehicles are haphazardly parked at important road points.
Mr D. Vamshi, who commutes from Gowlidoddi to his office in Mindspace daily, said, “A four-wheeler parked near a signal brings traffic to a halt.”
He said the illegal parking of vehicles could be seen at Ameerpet, SR Nagar and Madhapur.
The traffic police said it cannot seize the vehicles. Madhapur traffic inspector M. Ravi said, “At the most we can issue a challan. At the most, we can ask the driver to move on.”
Begumpet traffic inspector K. Muttu said, the people who stop vehicles beside roads were mainly floating public. “We usually issue 20-30 challans per day,” he said.
Mainly drivers park their vehicles in front of eateries or ice cream shops, collect the food and leave.
But some others park their vehicles in front of the shops and goes shopping.
If a vehicle has more than three challans it can be towed to the police station. If there are more than 10 pending challans it is seized and sent to court.
