Hyderabad: Cantonment Board vice president may face no-confidence motion

According to our internal agreement, Mr Rama Krishna's tenure ended on April 28, but it is not being followed now.

Hyderabad: Three of the elected ward members of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board, Mr S. Keshava Reddy, B. Anita Prabhakar and P. Bhagyasree, have given a representation to the Cantonment Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr S.V.R. Chandrashekar to initiate a no-confidence motion against the current cantonment vice-president, M.R.J. Rama Krishna for not adhering to the norms that they had set for themselves in 2017 regarding the tenure.

Mr J. Maheswar Reddy, elected board member for ward 1, stated, “According to our internal agreement, Mr Rama Krishna’s tenure ended on April 28, but it is not being followed now. Also seeing the slow developmental works in the last few months, we were not ready to continue in this situation and have proposed a no-Confidence motion.”

However, there are seven elected people from the TRS party in the Cantonment board, out of which only three have shown interest in the motion, and rest have not revealed their thinking.

Mr J. Rama Krishna, the current vice-president, denies any such internal agreement and said, “At the end of the day it is the Party’s high command, which takes the final call and they will take the appropriate decision and I will abide by that. Anyhow, the rest of the party members are on my side.”

Mr Keshava Reddy, Ward 2 elected member who also served as vice president in the previous term stated that, “We have lost confidence in him regarding the developments that are happening in the Cantonment, so we support the motion.”
