Karnataka: Expedite Housing Scheme Works, Says Zameer Ahmed Khan

Hosapete: Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan has issued a stern directive, setting a deadline for the comprehensive and time-bound completion of housing schemes initiated by the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation across the State.

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the sluggish pace of progress in housing projects, Minister Zameer firmly instructed Corporation officials to expedite the ongoing initiatives.

He suggested officials compile and submit a comprehensive status report detailing the progress of ongoing projects across the state and asked them to identify any hindrances, including financial constraints or other challenges.

The minister took the officials to task for releasing more funds than stipulated to the contractors of the housing project. He sought clarity on why funds were disbursed without adhering to incremental installments and completion benchmarks. He asserted that such practices would be curbed moving forward, emphasizing a need for strict financial discipline.

In a significant stride toward transparency, Minister Khan mandated that allotment letters to beneficiaries should only be issued upon confirmation of their financial contribution and the establishment of a bank guarantee.

The minister's concern extended to the progress of the Chief Minister's ambitious goal of constructing one lakh houses. He underscored the importance of timely housing distribution in building public trust. To this end, Minister Zameer called for immediate action, aiming to distribute 12,000 houses within the span of a month.

He called upon officials to facilitate bank loans for beneficiaries and orchestrate a formal key-handover ceremony in the presence of the Chief Minister.
Minister Khan mandated the submission of comprehensive progress reports covering all Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation projects dating back to 2013.
