Telangana: Maoists redraw boundaries
Hyderabad: The Maoists has reorganised its Peoples Liberation Army guerrilla committees after the TS government created new districts last year, according to sources in the anti-naxal intelligence agencies.
A top intelligence official said, “The cadres of Maoists who are based in Chhattisgarh are carrying out activities in North Telangana now and then. Their base has dwindled here.”
Maoists were functioning with a divisional committee of the Khammam-Karimnagar-Warangal (KKW) led by Bade Chokka Rao alias Damodar and a district committee of Adilabad. Damodar was trying to build base in the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border.
Now they have formed divisional committees for Mancherial-Kumaram Bheem Asifabad. Jayashankar Bhupalpally-Mahabubabad-Warnagal-Peddapalli and Khammam-Bhadradri Kotta-gudem, he said.
“They have few cadres on ground but they trying to rework on with the changed geographic allocations,” a senior police official said. Several area committees in the divisional committees were also reorganised.
It is suspected Haribhushan has been heading Maoist Telangana State committee. The operational capabilities of Maoists have decreased drastically over the years.
However they are resorting to minor violent incidents in the borders. Interestingly, Moaist movement has seen several top rung leaders including Kishenji from Peddapalliy district.
