Election Security: Central armed forces deployed in sensitive pockets
Hyderabad: The deployment of central armed forces will result in the creation of 65 more check posts as additions to the existing 89 inter-state check posts in sensitive areas of the state.
In order to ensure strict enforcement of the model code of conduct (MCC), armed security forces are being deployed in vulnerable areas. In all 34,452 polling staffers will be on duty across the state, police sources said.
DGP Anjani Kumar said, “Since the election date has been announced our officers along with poll panel officials and other agencies are conducting various operations 24x7 at all the identified posts.”
Meanwhile, wings like the special branch, Intelligence Bureau, state and central excise enforcement teams, DRI, ED, and customs enforcement are actively performing their assigned duties, police sources said. They said that police have been cautioning people to carry all related documents, receipts, and proofs.
The state police have conducted meetings with the heads of different bank heads across the state directing them to constantly monitor online transactions and alert the police of all suspicious transactions during elections, police said.
Meanwhile, seven companies were deployed on Sunday. They will assist Rachakonda police personnel during elections.
More central forces will be deployed said D.S. Chauhan, Rachakonda police commissioner.
The central forces and Rachakonda police personnel will take out a parade like a flag march in many constituencies that fall in the commissionerate, Chauhan said.
He said that old criminals are being bound over as part of precautionary measures. He said that intensive checks are being conducted to prevent crimes like transporting unaccounted cash and other items.
