Govt accords top priority to infrastructure development in Kalaburagi: Priyank Kharge

Kalaburagi: Minister of IT-BT, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Priyank Kharge has expressed optimism regarding investments in the state following his recent tour to the United States.

"We held a series of meetings with the business leaders in the US. The entrepreneurs have expressed interest in investing approximately Rs 25,000 crore in Karnataka. This will play a pivotal role in bolstering employment opportunities and driving industrial development in the state," Kharge told reporters at Kalaburagi.

The minister briefed about the state government's plans to revamp the industrial policy, particularly targeting cities like Belagavi, Hubballi, Mysuru, and Kalaburagi.

The government's strategy involves a sector-specific approach to stimulate growth, supported by incentives and collaborative measures for entrepreneurs in these cities.

Kharge spoke about the infrastructure development in Kalaburagi that would help in attracting investment in the region.

"Notable improvement has been made to the transportation infrastructure, including the development of state and national highways adjacent to Kalaburagi city, along with improved rail and air connectivity. The developments are anticipated to catalyze the economic progress of the region," Kharge added.

Also, a comprehensive human resource development initiative is underway, underscoring the government's focus on generating employment for the state's youth.

He said that providing employment opportunities to the state's youth is of paramount importance. For this, a skill advisory committee has been formed, with Minister Sharan Prakash Patil and Priyank Kharge himself as members.

Addressing the encroachment issue in Kalaburagi district, Kharge assured immediate action.

"Illegal encroachment of government land, notably in the Ashraya colony, has been addressed as per the law. Regrettably, few BJP leaders, including MPs, are exploiting it for political gains," he stated.
