Padmaavat row: Karni Sena chief Lokendra Singh Kalvi calls for janata curfew
Lucknow: Karni Sena chief Lokendra Singh Kalvi has now given a call for Janata curfew and has appealed to the public not to watch Padmaavat, which is scheduled to release on January 25 in theatres.
Talking to reporters here on Monday after meeting UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Mr Kalvi said that after the SC verdict on the film, it was the Prime Minister alone who could impose a ban on the film by invoking the cinematographer act. Asked about the outcome of his meeting with the chief minister , Mr Kalvi said, “The chief minister agrees with us in principle but there is little that the government can do after the court order except file for a review”. He said that the apex court decision was not on the merit of the film andsome state governments had gone to the court now.
“We may also put in our petition on Tuesday. I am still hopeful that the state government will not allow the law and order situation in their states to worsen and will not allow the film to release.”
