KPCC president takes exception to probe by IG
Kottayam: KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran on Friday demanded an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the Periya twin murder case.
Mr Ramachandran asked what was the ‘qualification’ of IG S. Sreejith to investigate the case.
Speaking to reporters here , he said Sreejith had a history of sabotaging cases in which CPM was on the wrong side. “This case will also meet the same fate,” he said.
The PCC president said Sreejith had been deputed by the CPM in various cases including Varapuzha custodial death case.
He also frowned at the government decision to task V.M. Muhammad Rafeeq who was transferred from the post of Kottayam district police chief after being accused of negligence in Kevin murder case, with investigating the case under Sreejith. He said the wife and the mother of Peethambaran, the accused in Periya case, had said that nothing would happen without the knowledge of the party.
