Malabar Christian College special stamp released

“This marks how important the institution is for the Malabar region and the rich history associated with it,” he added.

Kozhikode: To mark the 110th year since the inception of the Malabar Christian College, the Indian Postal Department released a specially designed postal cover for the college with the college name and its emblem. Rt.Rev.Dr.Royce Manoj Victor,Bishop,CSI Malabar diocese received the special cover from K Sukumaran, Senior Superintendent of Post.

Mr K Sukumaran, said during the ceremony that the department had been honouring for sometime all those institutions that had completed 100 years of existence with special postal covers. “This marks how important the institution is for the Malabar region and the rich history associated with it,” he added.

The special cover from the postal department will be a proof of the existence of the college and people from across the country will now know about this institution that speaks about a rich history.

Talking about the institution, the college representative said, “In 1934, the Mahatma visited this institution to collect money from the students here for the cause of the freedom struggle. It is said that Rs 100 was collected by the patriotic students and presented to him in a pouch during a small ceremony which was organized for the occasion. Hence, the college holds a prominent position in the history of the Malabar region,” he said.
