SCR's Guntakal division ticket inspector collects over Rs 1 cr fine from violators

TIRUPATI: A Chief Travelling Ticket Inspector (CTTI), working under South Central Railway's Guntakal Division, created history by joining the Indian Railway's “One Crore Club”, in terms of fine collection for ticketless travellers.

G. Uday Ram Singh, who is known to be an honest officer, has fined 17,321 ticketless travellers and collected Rs 1.27 crore in fines since his joining at Renigunta depot in January 2022. He is the highest fine collector among the ticket checking inspectors from Guntakal division and one of the nine staff at zonal railways, who achieved more than Rs 1 crore earnings.

Uday Ram Singh was complimented and thanked by the Tirupati railway station director K. Sathya Narayana for accomplishing this unusual accomplishment.

Ticket checking is one of the key mechanisms that help build trust among genuine train passengers and ensure that the railway does not incur losses as a result of ticketless travel. Ram, who works as a CTTI in the ticket checking squad at Renigunta, has constantly demonstrated outstanding efforts in checking ticketless passengers and has been an asset to the railway's commercial department."

CTTIs T. Raghavendra, Eshwar Giri, and Amarnath Reddy commended Uday Ram on his remarkable performance and dedication. "Uday Ram's intelligence and astuteness in detecting and dealing with ticketless travellers, unauthorised hawkers, and fraudulent cases such as ticket transfer is highly commendable," they stated.

Uday Ram Singh has already received two awards, including best general manager in 2020 and best commercial manager in 2022. According to the CTTI, special drives conducted according to specific instructions from SCR general manager Arun Kumar Jain have played a vital role in cracking the whip against ticketless traveling in trains. K. Satyanarayana, Director of Tirupati Station, urged all train passengers to travel with genuine railway tickets.
