It’s prayer time for party cadre
Hyderabad: Hyderabadis are waiting with bated breath for the imminent declaration of the Lok Sabha election results. A majority of the general public seems to prefer to stay home so as to receive timely updates through news channels and social media.
Workers of the MIM, Congress and the BJP are all set to gather at their party headquarters, which happen to be located at quite a distance from one another. Many supporters of MIM have been engaging in special prayers for the victory of the MIM candidates, while some of them, including NRIs, have been performing a special Umra in the holy city of Mecca. Arrangements, including tents, have been made for the workers and the general public in Darussalam.
The number of votes secured in each round of the election to 3 Lok Sabha constituencies will be displayed on the board. MIM has fielded Mr Akhatarul Iman from Kishan Gunj (Bihar) and Mr Imtiaz Jaleel from Auranga-bad in addition to Hyderabad from where, the party supremo is seeking a mandate for the fourth term consequently.
The Hyderabad Parliamentary seat has been held by MIM since 1984. Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, the father of Mr Asaduddin Owaisi, won from 1984 till 1999. In 2004, he nominated Mr Asaduddin Owaisi, who has since won three elections. Thursday will be a special occasion for Muslims as it happens to be the day of the conquest of Mecca as per Islamic history. Prophet Mohammed conquered Mecca on the 17th day of Ramzan and restored it to its true purpose.
Mr Owaisi tweeted “Inshallah, tomorrow (17th Ramzan) we will celebrate the defeat of more than one Abu Jahl.” Abu Jahl was one of the Meccan polytheist Qureshi leaders known for his critical opposition against Prophet Mohammed.
Although Congress and BJP have planned to gather at Gandhi Bhavan and the BJP state party office, the enthusiasm of the workers depends on how their parties perform on the national level. Neither parties seem sure about their performance in TS, so they seem to have decided to focus on the national outcome.
