Stalemate Over Arrest Of Avinash In Kurnool
Kurnool: Stalemate continued on Tuesday over the likely arrest of Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy even as some CBI officials are camping here and a few officers have left for Hyderabad. The district police remained tight-lipped about the evolving situation.
Two teams from the CBI had arrived in Kurnool on Monday with the aim of taking Avinash into custody for questioning in the Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case. The CBI team is closely monitoring the situation in the city while ruling YSRC leaders and supporters are present in strength near the private hospital where the MP is reportedly staying.
The arrest of MP Avinash Reddy, whose mother is hospitalised and father already under arrest by the CBI, is likely anytime as he has not made himself available to the agency for questioning.
Former legislator S.V. Mohan Reddy expressed concerned over the potential law and order issues that might arise if Avinash Reddy is arrested. He urged the officials to wait until his mother is discharged from hospital.
YSRC’s legislators, former legislators and local leaders staged a protest in front of the private hospital on Tuesday, demanding that the CBI allow Avinash to be with his ailing mother. Among them were Panyam legislator Katasani Rambhupal, Kurnool MLA Hafeez Khan, Kodumuru legislator Sudhakar, former MLA Mohan Reddy, city mayor Ramaiah and other leaders.
The police increased security in the area to ensure public safety and prevent any law and order issues.
