Students of Middle Fort in Warangal forced to sit under trees

The parents are unhappy with the children being asked to sit under trees.

Warangal: Even as the state government asks people to send their wards to state-run schools, assuring them of quality education, nutritious food and good facilities, many schools lack even basic infrastructure.

The government primary school at Middle Fort in Warangal Urban district is the best example of the negligence of officials. The school which has 203 students has two rooms. While one room is being used for the staff, as the head master’s room and the store, the other room is being used to teach two classes.

The rest of the students sit under the trees. The classes are run in the open even in hot weather. If it rains, all the students are forced to find shelter in the only classroom or the narrow corridor and it is impossible for any class to run.

The school had additional classrooms sanctioned. The works began but were stopped due to non-payment of bills. It is learnt that funds meant for construction of school buildings are being transferred to other schemes as elections are approaching.

The parents are unhappy with the children being asked to sit under trees.

“The teachers ask us to send our wards to government schools instead of private schools but they fail to provide good facilities. The children are suffering as they are sitting under trees. Even though the rainy season has just begun, the weather is still hot with scanty rainfall. And during the rains the school is a complete mess with all the children in one classroom,” asked Ms G. Mangamma of Khila Warangal.
