Visakhapatnam: Dad ordered to share benefits with kids
Visakhapatnam: Family court judge K. Sai Rama Devi on Saturday resolved a long pending dispute between two teenage girls and their father, by ordering him to share his retirement benefits with them.
The girls, S. Alekya, 19, and and S. Bhavana, 16, had filed a petition seeking attachment of retirement benefits of their father Savu Uttam Rao, a railway employee working at Secunderabad. He is scheduled to retire on August 31.
Mr Uttam Rao had divorced his wife in 2011.
Judge Rama Devi through mediation efforts between father and the girls brought about a settlement where the father agreed to deposit Rs 6 lakh in the account of each of the girls for a period of five years, and entitling them to receive interest over the amount.
The judge ordered that in case of marriage before five years, the girls can withdraw the amount. The judge permitted Mr Rao to visit his children.
Senior advocate and president of Forum of Legal Professionals Kuppili Mu-ralidhar hailed the order of the judge and said such cases could be resolved through mediation of the family court.
