Hyderabad: Gali Janardhan Reddy questioned on FEMA violation
Hyderabad: Mining scam accused Gali Janardhan Reddy appe-ared before the Enforcement Directorate in Hyderabad in connection with a FEMA case on Monday. The ED had earlier issued summons asking the accused to appear for question.
The Enforcement Direc-torate is carrying out an enquiry under Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) against Gali Janardhan reddy. “The ED has summoned the mining accused and he was asked several questions regarding FEMA violations. He answered to the questions, a source said.
Janardhan Reddy had a different version. Speaking to mediapersons, he said, “The Karnataka High Court passed an order stating asking the ED to release the assets seized in the Obulapuram mining case. I have come to request the officers to release my properties worth Rs 140 crore.”
The CBI in 2011 filed a chargesheet accusing Janardhan Reddy is accused of changing mining lease, the boundary markings between AP and Karnataka, and indulging in illegal mining in the Ballari reserve forests spread between Ballari of Karnataka and Anantapur district of AP.
The ED probed the charges and attached assets. Janardhan Reddy said he requested the ED to release these properties.
