Huge Bike Rally for Why Not 175' Fills Roads, Resounds with Pro-Jagan Slogans
Vijayawada: The YSRC conducted a huge bike rally on the ‘Why Not 175’ theme here on Wednesday. It was led by AP Planning Board vice-chairman Malladi Vishnu along with MLA Vellampalli Srinivas.
Large numbers of bikes and their riders airing slogans in praise of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his government’s welfare schemes participated in the YSRC event.
Hundreds of YSRC leaders, supporters and cadres went round the city, covering the main areas in the three Assembly constituencies of Vijayawada East, Central and West. ‘Jai Jagan Jai Jai Jagan’ slogans rent the air.
Central MLA Malladi Vishnu said the YSRC was ready to face the election any time under the leadership of Jagan Mohan Reddy. “He is providing good governance by doubling the trust of the people, from time to time.”
He criticised Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh for foul-mouthing the CM. “Lokesh did not have the courage to speak in Vijayawada and he spoke in Gannavaram after two days. The TD did nothing for Vijayawada.”
Refuting the claims of Naidu and Lokesh that they will bring changes in the governance in 100 days, Vishnu asked what the TD did to the people during its five years of rule. He demanded that the TD leaders had said in the past that ‘if welfare schemes are given to the poor, the state will land in debts. So, why does the TD now promise to double welfare? Are they trying to deceive the people,” he asked.
Malladi Vishnu alleged that the TD had failed to provide the minimum infrastructure facilities to the people except chanting the name of Amaravati for five years. “There was huge corruption in the construction of flood canals, to the tune of Rs 500 crore by the TD with work left half done.”
Vellampalli MLA Srinivasa Rao recalled that around 40 temples had been demolished during the TD government’s five-year-term in AP. Jagan Mohan Reddy reconstructed them after coming into power. “Naidu never worked for the development of Vijayawada city and the Durga temple but CM Jagan Mohan Reddy took all steps to complete the flyovers, ensure development of Vijayawada and allotted funds for the Durga temple development.”
East Constituency incharge Devineni Avinash recalled that during the Naidu term, thousands of people used to live in rehabilitation centres due to inundation of localities on the Krishna river banks due to floods. Jagan Mohan Reddy completed the retaining wall to Krishna river, giving safety and protection to the public.”
