Newly-wed cop couple called on the Hyderabad commissioner C.V. Anand
HYDERABAD: City police commissioner C.V. Anand on Friday greeted the newly-married sub-inspectors whose pre-wedding video featuring police vehicles and the Panjagutta police station had kicked up a row. The couple, K. Bhavana with the Punjagutta police and Ravuri Kishore with the Armed Reserve, called on Anand at his office on Friday. “Met the newly-wed cop couple whose pre-wedding shoot went viral and created controversy,” Anand said on X (formerly Twitter) while posting a picture. “Congratulated them and reminded them to uphold the honour of the uniform, even in personal celebrations. They apologised for embarrassing the department. Wished them a lifetime of love and togetherness and conveyed the warm feelings of so many citizens vis a vis their video,” Anand said.
19-yr-old’s suicide case: Trader held
The Dundigal police arrested Mohd Nadeem, 24, a chicken trader, in connection with the suicide of a 19-year-old girl three days ago. The girl had stopped education in college. Police said Nadeem and the girl belonging to a different community had been in a relationship for four years and had promised to marry each other. Recently Nadeem said that he could not marry her and started avoiding her. The girl was found dead at her home on Tuesday. On a complaint from her parents, police registered a case of abetment to suicide case against Nadeem and arrested him, Dundigal station house officer Y. Ramakrishna said.
Delivery executive found dead at a construction site:
A delivery executive, Nenavath Anil. 26, was found dead under suspicious circumstances near some power supply equipment on a construction site at Nallagandla, Chandanagar police said on Friday. Police found wounds on Anil’s limbs which appeared to have been caused by electrocution. Police also found a cutting plier near his body. A resident of Lingampally, Anil was not related to the construction work in any way, police said. They are investigating the reason for his presence there.
School buses under police scanner:
The Cyberabad Women & Children Safety Wing (W&CSW) along with traffic police conducted surprise checks on school buses to ensure the safety of children. They have also checked the drivers.
Stressing that schools should follow safety precautions, DCP Nitika Pant said they should hire drivers with more than five years of experience at the wheel, as per government guidelines and ensure that the buses have fitness certificates.
They also conducted drills for school bus drivers along with traffic officials.
Police checked the buses for labelling, availability of school contact numbers, first aid kits and fire extinguishers. Cops also verified the vehicle staff’s identity cards and the licence of drivers.
Prisons dept. opens shop at Secunderabad railway station:
The prisons department launched its stall at the Secunderabad railway station, to sell articles made by prisoners. Located near the reservation counter on Platform No. 10 on Friday, prison inspectors-general Y. Rajesh and N. Muralibabu inaugurated the stall. This is the first prison outlet in a railway station in the state. A statement said there was a good response for articles like bed sheets, towels, lungies, handkerchieves, doormats, yoga mats, durries, sanitary items and steel furniture. “The aim of the prisons department is to promote the inmates’ skills, ensure financial support to prisoners and their reintegration into society,” an official said. Dr D. Srinivas, DIG of Prisons, Hyderabad Range; superintendents of jails Santhosh Roy (Cherlapally) and N.Shivakumar Goud (Chanchalguda) and other staff participated in the event.
