Hyderabad police not to disturb Victoria Memorial Home
Hyderabad: Mr Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, commissioner of Rachakonda, said that the department has no intention to disturb activities at the Victoria Memorial Home (VMH).
“The activities will continue. Children will stay and study there without getting disturbed. In fact, the premises will now be a high security area with the commissioner’s office,” Mr Bhagwat said.
A massive building will be constructed on the 10 acre land parcel and will house the offices of cyber crime, command and control centre, SHE Team, special branch and the administrative wing. The police selected the location owing to its closeness to the vital areas of the city.
Before selecting the VMH, the police checked a few land parcels at Hayathnagar and Nagole. “They could not match our requirements. Security-related aspects are also important,” an official said.
The commissioner’s office building will come up in next two years after the groundbreaking ceremony. Once completed, the entire office will be shifted to the new building.
“To avoid inconvenience; I am camping at the LB Nagar DCP office and at Malkajgiri. Aggrieved persons can come and represent their cases on Tuesdays and Fridays at the camp office,” he said.
