Woman says Nama Nageswara Rao poll papers hide' her case
Khammam: Former MP and Telugu Desam candidate for Khammam Nama Nageswara Rao faced a jolt in the form of Ms Sujatha Ramakrishnan Sunkara, an architect, who lodged a complaint with the Election Commission that he had not made a full disclosure of the cases against him.
Ms Sujatha said he had not mentioned her case against him under IPC Section 354 (criminal force to outrage modesty of woman).
She said she had lodged a complaint with the Jubilee Hills police (688/17) against Mr Rao and his brother for allegedly threatening her with dire consequences on August 10, 2017. In the complaint she had alleged that she knew Mr Nagesawara Rao since 2013 and he used to visit her residence regularly.
When she came to know that he had allegedly cheated a Karnataka ex-MLC in the name of marriage, Ms Sujatha said she had questioned him about it. She claimed that the former MP warned her against speaking about the issue and had threatened to leak her nude pictures.
The phone conversation between the two was leaked by the victim.
In her complaint to the Election Commission, she said, “The TD candidate has not mentioned using physical force on women, threatening, blackmailing, cheating and criminal breach of trust in his affidavit.” She enclosed a copy of the complaint she had filed in the XVII Metropoliton Court, Nampally, against Mr Nageswara Rao.
She also said that the candidate violated the Supreme Court guideline, which stated that “Nothing stood in the way of the elector’s right to know”, and ordered candidates to declare their criminal records to the Election Commission in bold and brief.
