Election Gear Up: Officials Prepped for Flawless Andhra Polls
VIJAYAWADA: In anticipation of the upcoming elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has geared up its machinery in Andhra Pradesh. Senior deputy election commissioners Dharmendra Sharma and Nitish Kumar Vyas conducted a comprehensive review meeting with state officials, emphasising transparency, accountability, and impartiality as core principles for the electoral process.
Two-day intensive sessions saw collectors and SPs from all districts presenting their election preparation plans. Detailed PowerPoint presentations outlined measures taken to ensure a safe, secure, and inclusive voting experience for all.
Sharma and Vyas stressed the importance of a proactive approach, urging officials to be ready with a 360-degree plan even before the election notification is issued. This plan should prioritize minimising untoward incidents and upholding the spirit of democracy.
Maintaining a flawless voter list was another key focus. The ECI officials emphasised the need for meticulous verification and elimination of duplicate entries or deceased voters. This, they asserted, would be crucial for conducting error-free and efficient elections.
Addressing concerns and complaints from political parties swiftly was also mandated. Officials were instructed to meticulously follow ECI guidelines and ensure proper preparation of all election materials, including Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
Special Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programs were encouraged at every assembly constituency. Engaging the public and encouraging informed voting was seen as critical to enhancing electoral participation.
Detailed instructions were also provided on various aspects like Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC), Ethical Voting, Elections Code of Conduct, Poll Day Management, and Enforcement.
