Malabar Handicrafts expo starts today
KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the internationally acclaimed Malabar handicrafts exhibition at Police Parade ground, Kannur, on Sunday. It will conclude on March9. Apart from renowned craftsmen from Kerala and India, those from abroad also will participate in the event. The previous edition of the exhibition was held at Indira Gandhi stadium, Palakkad.
The exhibition held under the aegis of state Industries and Commerce department will feature a wide varieties of crafts made by the artisans around the globe. The exhibition will showcase the art cultural heritage of Kannur before the world.
The public will get an opportunity to watch the crafting live and buy the products. The exhibition provides the customers a direct link between the craftsmen avoiding middle men. There will be food stalls providing indigenous recipe of Malabar food items.
Dr.K. Ilangovan IAS will welcome the gathering. Minister for archives, museum Kadannappally Ramachandran will deliver keynote address in which Industries minister E.P.Jayarajan will preside.
