No violations in permissions to Andhra Pradesh capital: Prakash Javadekar

AP government has sent several proposals but the Centre has cleared only a few and others are under consideration.

Hyderabad: Union environmental affairs minister Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday denied allegations that the ministry gave various permissions to Amaravati capital city structures without studying their environmental effects.
Speaking in Delhi, the minister said that, for the first time in country, the NDA government took a policy decision to relax the norms allowing both residential and commercial buildings to come up in forest lands with regard to Amaravati capital city since AP Reorganisation Act provided for that.

He also said several teams had been dispatched by the ministry to study the impact on environment of these constructions in Amaravati city and the Centre was according permissions only after careful study. He said the AP government has sent several proposals but the Centre has cleared only a few and others are under consideration.
