Telangana witnessing yellow revolution, says official
HYDERABAD: Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary, IT and industry, said Telangana state was witnessing a ‘yellow revolution’ with the growth in edible oil production. The government was continuously focusing on building agri infrastructure and was spending 60 per cent of the Budget on the purpose, he said.
He was speaking at the seventh international conference on rice bran oil which concluded here on Sunday.
Over 600 delegates representing the industry including invitees from all the rice bran oil-producing countries like India, China, Thailand, Japan, Vietnam and Bangladesh attended the conference.
Exhibitors showcased their products and disseminate information on the latest technologies, research and value-added products and discuss country-specific challenges.
Ranjan said that the government had transferred about 20 lakh hectares of rice-producing land for the cultivation of oil palm. With this, Telangana became the state with the largest area under oil production. “We have set up special food processing zones in Telangana, and offer the best infrastructure and support systems for growth,” he said.
