Demand to name AP capital after NTR
Guntur: Telugu Desam leaders at the party Mini-Mahanadu at Guntur on Tuesday demanded NTR’s name for Amaravati government core seed capital. There was a demand to strengthen the party in the district. Group politics was haunting the TD which became a big problem to take the party into the public. The TD leaders are conducting the Mini-Mahanadu to bring about unity among the leaders by shunning group politics and to work towards a big win in the future elections.
TD district president and Vinukonda MLA G.V. Anjaneyulu, minister for civil supplies P. Pulla Rao, minister for social welfare N. Ananda Babu, TD legislators, other people’s representatives and TD leaders in large numbers participated in the Mini-Mahanadu. The meeting led by Mr Anjaneylu passed resolutions seeking to adopt Telugu Desam founder N.T. Rama Rao’s name for Amaravati seed capital.
Recalling the ser-vices of NTR to Andhra, the Mini-Mahanadu demanded conferring Bharata Ratna to NTR. Lamenting over the poor price to world famous Guntur red chillis, TD leaders demanded exclusion of chillis from Spices Board and forming a separate Chilli Board to serve the chilli farmers by regulating the crop and further providing fair price.
The meeting proposed new lift irrigation scheme at Pulichintala to supply drinking and irrigation water to Pedakurapadu and Gurazala areas and connecting the LI Scheme to Nagarjunasagar right canal to provide irrigation water to tail-end lands.
Lamenting over poor development of tourism in Guntur district despite having ancient monuments, the TD leaders demanded development of Buddhist tourism circuit by developing Kondaveedu, Kotappakonda, Nagarjunasagar, Ethipo-thala water falls, Unda-valli caves, old Amaravati and Bhattiprolu tourism places. The AP State Haj House should be build at Guntur and Chennai and Visakhapatnam industrial corridor should be connected with Palnadu region in Guntur district, the leaders demanded.
The TD leaders came down on YSR Congress president and opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and claimed that Mr Jagan is unfit to be the opposition leader due to his anti-development attitude.
