AMARAVATI: The news of the sinking of the floor in the under construction fourth block of the Temporary Secretariat in a section of the media is creating fears about the future of the buildings. But the CRDA denied sinking of the building as baseless and claimed that a duct was dug for laying of an underground cable.
Special officer of Temporary Secretariat Mallikarjuna said the floor was broken for only 100 metres for laying underground cables.
According to reports, the L&T and Shapoorji and Pallonji contractors constructed the concrete flooring of the five blocks. But four days ago, a team of engineers without giving prior intimation came to the Temporary Secretariat and checked all the five blocks. They broke the flooring of the second block for 100 metres suspecting a hollow beneath of the flooring and found sinking of the soil by 3-5 feet. They directed the workers to fill the hollow with clay and soil.
The news swiftly spread on Thursday due to airing of the same by a TV news channel and daily and postings on social networking sites. This created fear among the public and locals rushed to Velagapudi to see the sinking floor but no one was allowed into the Temporary Secretariat complex. Besides this, employees shifting from Hyderabad also started inquiring about the incident with their friends and relatives. YSRC MLA A.
