COVID-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh near 10K mark

Seven cases have been reported from foreign returnees. Fifty-eight patients have been discharged from district Covid-19 hospital

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh reported 407 new Covid-19 cases and eight deaths in a single day, the highest yet among Covid-19 patients. With this, the total number of cases rose to 9,834, just short of touching 10,000 cases in AP.

The state health department in its bulletin released on Tuesday reported that out of 20,639 samples tested, 407 domestic new cases were found and eight deaths, including three each from Krishna and Kurnool and one each from Guntur and Kadapa were reported in the last 24 hours.

With the addition of Tuesday’s new domestic cases, the overall tally rose to 7,858. However, 40 new cases were reported from other states and 14 from other countries taking the total number of new cases to 462.

Of total cases, 4,592 were discharged while 5,123 are in hospital.

Anantapur reported 68 new cases, Chittoor, 26, East Godavari, 87, Guntur, 50, Kadapa, 24, Krishna, 33, Kurnool, 53, Nellore, seven, Prakasam, five, Srikakulam, one, Visakhapatnam, 21, Vizianagaram, one and West Godavari, 31.

Kadapa district reported 41 new cases, taking the overall tally to 601. Among new cases, Proddutur reported 10, Jammalamadugu, six, Mylavaram, five, Chapadu, two and Veeraballi, Sambepalli, Ontimitta, Kalasapadu, Valluru, Badvel, Rajupalem, Gopavaram, Kadapa, Nandlur, Vemula mandals, one each case.

Seven cases have been reported from foreign returnees. Fifty-eight patients have been discharged from district Covid-19 hospital.

Kurnool district reported 69 new cases and three deaths. With this, the overall tally of cases has gone up to 1,407. If 441 people from other states and living in Kurnoolare to be added, the total number of cases would rise to 1,848.

Nellore district reported 18 new cases, taking the total number of cases to 581. The new cases have been reported from Sangam, AS Peta, TP Gudur, Kovur, Vinjamur, Nellore Urban, Kavali and Kaligiri mandals. A patient from Kadapa has been infected with the virus. So far, 375 patients have been discharged, while 205 patients are in hospital.

Prakasam district reported 24 new cases taking the overall tally to 367. The new cases have been reported from Cumbum, Giddalur, Inkollu, Maruturu, Besthavaripeta, Podili, Ongole, Pandasenapeta of Bapatla mandal, Kandukuru, Chirala, Markapuram, Pamuru and others.

Among the new cases, 12 are women and of them a 12-year-old girl and a 19-year-old girl have been infected with the virus.

Two returnees from Kyrgyzstan and a few from Chennai and Hyderabad while a few more infected persons were found to be either primary or secondary contacts of infected persons.

East Godavari reported a single day spike of 106 new cases taking the total number of cases to 907. Of the total cases, 354 were discharged while 499 are in hospital.
