ALAPPUZHA: Are you struggling to find a trusted domestic help? It's now just a phone call away.
A cooperative bank in Kanjikuzhy brings trained domestic workers to your doorstep at a reasonable cost.
Perhaps it will be a first cooperative bank in the state to enter the business, and they call it “She Friendly Home service”.
The bank also runs a women event management company called Vanita Selfie providing service across the state for the last three year with seventy women.
Taking a cue from the experience of women-oriented business, the bank is hopeful that the new initiative will make the job of domestic help more attractive, trustworthy and professional.
The bank is starting the service with 10 women employees who are getting training in personality development, customer relations and home services.
"At present, the wage has been fixed as Rs 300 for a day excluding travelling expenses. Other schemes will be announced later after the first batch hits the field next week," said M. Santhosh Kumar, its president.
"We landed in the home service business due to massive demand. The main objective is to supply quality workers and make it more professional and organised."
The bank has also decided to provide these women loans to buy vehicles and cleaning equipment once the business gets rolling. They are ready to provide the service anywhere in the country if the residents are willing to ensure accommodation and travel fare.
Geetha Karthikeyan, one of the recruits, said she felt so empowered and proud being a professional domestic help.
"It’s an added income earning source. We got trained on how to behave with residents and cleaning works with modern equipment," she said.
"The trained women have been given unique uniforms so that they could get a professional look. We hope more women will join the service."
