Hyderabad: Former Mutawalli of Hyderabad’s famous shrine Dargah Yousufain Mohammed Faisal Ali Shah was placed under house arrest by the Habeebnagar Police
When he tried to participate in the ‘Jhela Mubarak’, the procession that marks the start of the annual urs.
Mr Faisal Ali Shah, who was suspended by the Wakf Board, had planned to participate in the procession along with his disciples.
Cops of Habeebnagar police station under the supervision of inspector P. Shiva Chandra reached the residence of the former mutawalli and asked him to confine himself to his house as the Wakf Board has authorised the present mutawalli, Abul Fateh Shah Hasan Shabbir Mohammed Al-Hussaini to lead the rituals.
Mr Faisal Ali Shah contended that though he was suspended from the post of Mutawalli, but he remains the Sajjadah Nashin of the shrine and this position was not affected.
He said he was not going to lead the rituals and had no intention to interfere with the rituals to be performed by the present mutawalli.
He said that he had the right to participate in the rituals as a common follower, but the police did not allow him to step out from his house.
Mr Shiva Chandra said he asked the former mutawalli not to step out from his residence as there were chances of disruption during the rituals.
He said CEO of the Wakf Board had clarified that the present mutawalli had the right to lead the rituals of ‘Jhela Mubarak’.
