Telangana Wakf board to set upskill training centre
Hyderabad: The TS Wakf Board is planning to set up a National Skill Development Centre (NSDC) on a part of the 50 acre land allotted by the government to the Dargah Hazrath Syedna Baba Sharfuddin at Pahadishareef.
The plot was allotted by the government after the AIMIM and other groups demanded compensation for the land it acquired for the RGI Airport. The TS Wakf Board is studying the proposal to set up the centre with the help of the Union government-assisted schemes for the improvement of employment rate in minorities in skilled sector.
The chief executive officer of TS Wakf Board, Shahnawaz Qasim, said “We plan to submit a report after studying all requirements for setting up of the centre. If our efforts fructify, the centre will have various workshops, class rooms for theory classes and hostels for the candidates,” he said.
The TS Wakf Board wants 60 per cent of the funds for the project to come from the Union government and the remaining from the State government. Wakf Board officials said they want to make use of funds under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Yojana started by the central government for the development of minorities.
Earlier, an international organisation had expressed interest in setting up a charitable hospital on a portion of the land to offer free service to the poor. “Several people are coming to the board asking us to lease out the land for various public benefit purposes. We have not finalised anything yet. But the proposal for setting up NSDC is being thoroughly studied,” said TS Wakf Board chairman Mohammed Saleem.
