Flooded nala is a stage for clowns and antics in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: One can trust politicians to seize upon even the smallest window of opportunity to attract attention.
The flooded low-lying areas and nalas were a god-send for these men who resorted to all kinds of antics to catch the eye of the media.
At Nacharam, where the road from Habsiguda to HCL was blocked due to the overflowing nala, a few ‘leaders’ were seen doing what they are best at — taking people for a ride with their antics.
Every time it rains heavily, the nala, which originates at Neredmet, overflows.
Since the past three days, the road from Habsiguda to Mallapur through Nacharam has been blocked by the police. The cops have installed caution boards and are diverting traffic to alternative roads to avoid unexpected incidents and also not allowing anyone to cross the nala.
These leaders, including TRS Uppal in-charge Bethi Subash Reddy, D. Mallikarjun, V. Gopal Reddy, Raghupathi Reddy and others, crossed the road over which the water was overflowing, that too with heavy current. They then turned back, and did so again. And again; the last time gesticulating to media personnel on the other side.
Later Mr Subash Reddy told the media that their adventurism was to practically demonstrate the situation.
Although, police personnel were present, no one objected. Nacharam inspector N. Pravinder said, “We are stopping people from using that road. They may have done so in the absence of police personnel.”
