Rains to lash Hyderabad for three days
Hyderabad: Courtesy of the sporadic rains that lashed the city on Wednesday, areas in the city along the Hyderabad Metro Rail corridor that leads from Ameerpet towards Kukatpally were left water-logged.
A look at the roads after the rainfall shows several vehicles partially submerged in the rainwater that accumulated. As the intensity of the rains grew, some motorists were witnessed running for shelter under a flyover or at the nearest bus stop.
“It was pouring continuously and we were left with no option but to take shelter under the flyover. Had we driven in the rain, our vehicles would have been spoilt,” said Ch. Satya, a resident of Manikonda who travels to KPHB for work.
It turns out that these rains would continue to lash the city for the next three days say officials from the IMD.
“We predict that there would be intense bouts of rainfall lashing the city throughout the week. We have also issued a heavy rainfall warning for the next three days,” YK Reddy, Director, IMD, told Deccan Chronicle.
For the rest of the state, the department has predicted that there would be heavy rainfall in districts in the northern parts of Telangana. The rains were attributed to a cyclonic circulation over west central Bay of Bengal, off the Andhra Pradesh coast.
“This system is expected to move further in the westerly direction towards coastal Andhra Pradesh and thereafter towards Telangana,” reads a forecast issued by Skymet Weather Services, a private forecasting outfit.
