AP School Commissioner Offers to Train Talented Students for National-Level Athletes
Vijayawada: Commissioner of School Education and School Games Federation of Andhra Pradesh president S. Suresh Kumar offered to train at least two talented students from each school as national-level athletes.
He made the offer at the executive committee meeting of school games secretaries from all districts in the state at the Samagra Shiksha office on Saturday.
Suresh Kumar said state government is providing sports equipment at all schools. Schools that do not have a PET (physical education teacher) must entrust the responsibility to one of the teachers to promote sports among students.
He asked all government and private schools in AP to register themselves in the Fit India app. They should participate in the Khelo India, Quit India Pledge and quiz competitions. The schools must upload related information on the app without fail.
Samagra Shiksha ASPD Dr. K.V. Srinivasulu Reddy said so far, sports equipment has been provided to schools in 12 districts. Rest of the districts will be provided the equipment before October 16. The equipment relates to sports such as volleyball, throw ball, handball, tennis, yoga, football, short put and so on.
School Games Federation vice president P. Parvathi and state secretary G. Bhanumurthy Raju were present.
