Hyderabad: IIIT-Basar students leave a mark
Hyderabad: BTech students who have passed out of IIIT-Basar are scoring big in government job recruitments. Nearly 200 students have been appointed to assistant executive engineers and assistant engineers posts after clearing tests conducted by the Public Service Commission. Almost all these students graduated in 2014 and 2015.
IIIT-B Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Satyanarayana said that engineering students had also done well in campus recruitments. “Last year, nearly 60 per cent of final year students got job offers and this year 100 students have been given appointment letters by Wipro and Tech Mahindra. Campus drives by Infosys and TCS are lined up in the next few weeks.” The institute has nearly 750 students in the final year.
According to Prof. Satyanarayana, IIIT-Basar got a big facelift after it was separated from the IIITs in Nuzvid and Edupulapaya in AP. with a budget of Rs 85 crore and all pending infrastructural work has been completed.
The academic atmosphere improved with recruitment of faculty. The good placement record and positive publicity ensured a big jump in the number applications. “For 1,000 seats, we got 23,000 applications. Last year it was 11,000,” he said.
Admission is given to SSC students on merit. While for the first two years they study Intermediate, students who get 60 per cent pursue engineering.
for the next four years.
