‘BJP-Shiv Sena to form govt,’ says Sanjay Raut, refers to ‘50-50’ formula

Raut said: \'It will be a BJP-Shiv Sena government. There is no two opinion about it. We got the full mandate.\'

Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday said the BJP and his party will form the government in Maharashtra. Raut referred to the ’50-50 formula’ agreed before the polls.

He told the reporters: "It will be a BJP-Shiv Sena government. There is no two opinion about it. We got the full mandate. Seats may increase of decrease in an election. We will talk to Uddhav ji, he will then speak with the chief minister. And what was agreed before the election, 50-50.’

Shiv Sena contested on 126 seats and is leading on 61 as per trends available so far. However, the BJP is leading only on 99 seats, way below the 122 it won in 2014.

Ahead of the state polls, a section of BJP leaders insisted that the party should ditch the Sena and go alone. It was Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who insisted on continuing the alliance. Later, the idea also received support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
