K Chandrashekar Rao darling of betting markets, not his party

The bookies are predicting that Mr Rao will become CM again even if his party does not get a majority.

Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president and caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is the front runner for betting agencies for the post of CM in the Telangana Assembly elections.

Betting organisers based in Mumbai consider Mr Rao the hot favourite for the top post, but are not sure of his party, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), getting the majority to form the government on its own.

As of today, for every one rupee bet placed on Mr Rao returning as CM, the return is one rupee. But for every one rupee placed on his not becoming the CM the return is Rs 1.50.

In betting, the value of the hot favourite is less, and that is why the Mumbai-based organisers pay out less to punters who bet in favour of Mr Rao as CM.

The bookies are predicting that Mr Rao will become CM again even if his party does not get a majority. For every one rupee placed on TRS getting a majority the return is 62 paisa and on every one rupee placed on the TRS not getting a majority, the return is 64 paisa. This changes every day depending on the public mood.

About 300 persons from the Mumbai-based organisation who are experts in assessing the public mood are touring across the state, and every day they send back a report on the public mood to their Mumbai headquarters.

Based on the reports the organisers change the betting ratio frequently.

A betting expert said that the Mumbai-based organiser’s predictions had often come true. In the recent Karnataka assembly elections, they predicted that the BJP will emerge as the single largest party, which was true. In the Gujarat assembly elections they predicted that the BJP would form the government which also came true. He said that punters have a lot of confidence in the predictions of the Mumbai-based organisation.

Another interesting point is that the people who are betting on KCR returning are mainly from Andhra Pradesh rather than Telangana. The betting habit is strong in AP, on every issue.

When we asked a betting expert about KCR becoming the CM again if the TRS does not get the required majority, he said if TRS gets 45 to 50 seats, the MIM will support the TRS and KCR can get the remaining required MLAs. Keeping this in view, KCR has become the favourite of these Mumbai based organisers.

KCR’s statement made in Adilabad district on Thursday about in case of TRS defeat has not changed the betting ratio of the Mumbai syndicate but it has changed things for local bettors.

Till yesterday, local bettors believed the TRS has a 60 per cent chance of winning and the Mahakutami has a 40 per cent chance. But after KCR’s statement, the TRS and Kutami have an equal chance of winning according to local bettors.
