MLA Kage's six absconding accomplices arrested
Athani: Six supporters of MLA Raju Kage, who were absconding after an FIR was filed by the police in connection with an attack on a local resident of Kagwad on January 9, were arrested in Maharashtra on Tuesday.
Including Kage, the police have so far have arrested 12 of the 13 accused. A local court in Athani remanded all the six to judicial custody until February 6.
According to the police, the arrested have been identified as Gajanan Mahadev Kage, Gajanan Sadashiva Kage, Shekhar Kage and Ashok Kage, all Kage's relatives and two others are Vinod Patil and Ashok Patil.
For the past few days, all six arrested were switching their locations to avoid the arrest, but a police team managed to trap them at Narasingpur, Kolhapur district. They underwent a medical examination before produced in the court.
A team of police brought them to Hindalga central prison where six other accused including Kage, his wife and daughter are lodged for the past six days. Another relative of Kage, Dr Prasana Kage is still at large and his advocate filed an application for anticipatory bail at Athani court on Tuesday. The entire attack carried out by Kage's family and supporters was recorded in a CCTV which helped the police to file an FIR based on it.
